Published: 30 July 2021 PEFMED Plus, GRASPINNO Plus and ARISTOIL Plus selected in the Interreg MED Programme 5th call for modular projects

The Green Growth Community projects PEFMED Plus, GRASPINNO Plus and ARISTOIL Plus have been selected in the Interreg MED 5th call for modular projects. These new projects in the community will transfer and mainstream during the next year the results achieved by the projects that preceded them in the focus areas of food systems and eco-innovation.

The Interreg MED Programme selected three Green Growth Community projects to capitalize on the knowledge acquired during the first phase of the Community (2016-2019). Focusing on two focus areas – food systems and eco-innovation –, PEFMED Plus, GRASPINNO Plus and ARISTOIL Plus will build upon the results achieved by their predecessor projects in key topics for the green growth in the Euro-Mediterranean region.

GRASPINNO Plus will focus on eco-innovation – as its predecessor project. The project will increase awareness and capacities for public administrations (PAs) and enterprises to facilitate electronic green public procurement (eGPP). Specifically, GRASPINNO Plus will transfer and mainstream the GRASPINNO Unified Platform that integrates three tools: the GRASPINNO Database, the eGPP Support tool, and the Life Cycle Costing Calculating Tool (LCC). These tools provide knowledge and sustainability criteria to support decision-making for selecting the best tenders, products and solutions on offer.

On the other hand, PEFMED Plus and ARISTOIL Plus will focus on food-systems. PEFMED Plus will share and tailor the knowledge already generated in PEFMED – the predecessor project – for the agri-food supply chain stakeholders focusing on the Adriatic. PEFMED Plus will help the stakeholders involved  to become fully aware of the Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) approach – a multi-criteria measure of the environmental performance of a good or service throughout its life cycle – and of the need to reduce environmental impact through concrete improvement actions.

ARISTOIL Plus will transfer some of the most important outcomes of ARISTOIL – the predecessor project – to new territories and new beneficiaries, focusing on the Guidelines for olive oil producers as well as the MED Healthy Olive oil Cluster. The project will focus on olive oil producers’ associations, individual producers, olive growers, millers, chambers and local authorities in Greece, Italy, Spain, Montenegro and Albania. ARISTOIL Plus aims to increase local capacities with training of trainers to increase awareness on the benefits and methods of producing Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO).
